ZTE bags Long-haul backbone Network deployment contract from Portugal¡¯s Optimus

ZTE Corporation bagged a contract from Portuguese operator, Optimus towards building a long-haul optical transmission network connecting Lisbon with Porto.

ZTE will deploy its ZTE’s ZXWM M920 solution optical networking product which promises to combine high-capacity and long-haul transmission capabilities. The solution will replace Optimus’ legacy equipment.

“As with many other European carriers, Optimus is faced with the challenge of meeting the requirements of a growing customer base and the exponential demand for data, leading it to upgrade its infrastructure with a cutting-edge solution. With its high-capacity and superior transmission performance, ZTE’s 40G solution is well-placed to help Optimus build a next-generation network covering key Portuguese cities,” said Mr. Chen Yufei, VP of bearer network at ZTE.

The solution is capable of supporting a network capacity of upto 40 Gbps and can enabled delivery of services including FC, 10GE and 40 GE.

Optimus is Portugal’s second largest fixed-line and country’s third largest mobile operator.
