Sha Yuejia, executive director and vice president of China Mobile Communications Corp. and executives of Huawei Technologies Co., ZTE Corp. and Datang Telecom Technology Co. will visit Taiwan late next month with sizable procurement plans.
These mainland China telecom executives are said to buy a huge amount of information/communications technology products including TD-SCDMA handsets, TD-LTE electronic readers, mobile phones and network-communications cards in Taiwan.
The shopping is part of the 180 billion Chinese yuan (US$26.4 billion at US$1:6.8 yuan) procurement plan announced by China Mobile Chairman Wang Jianzhou last year to pile up enough user-end equipment in conjunction with the company`s plan to boost its service subscribers to 50 million this year.
In addition, these executives are seeking to set up supply chains of the TD-LTD 4G products with Taiwan`s suppliers.
After the March delegation, China Mobile executives and executives of the mainland`s other telecom companies will visit Taiwan early this April to co-announce a plan to set up an experimental TD-LTE network in Taiwan.
