China's telecom industry slows down in 2009

Wireless telecom accounted for 60.43%, while 27.77% was from fixed-line business and 11.8% was from data communications, according to a report on the ministry's website.
Yu Xiaohui at the Telecom Research Center of MIIT said that with the recovery of the telecom industry this year, mobile industry, especially 3G industry, is likely to speed up.
Reportedly, the number of new mobile phone users in 2009 surpassed 106 million. China Telecom Co<0728><CHA> had 3.2 million new CDMA users in December, and China Unicom<600050><0762><CHU> had 920,000 new 3G subscribers.
