China Mobile (00941.HK; CHL.NYSE), the builder and operator of world's first TD-SCDMA (TD) 3G commercial networks, is aiming high in building the largest 3G network in the world.

It will maintain the network construction concept of "three no, three new, and three integrations", said the operator's vice president Li Yue.

The three no refer to no change of numbers, no change of cards and no need of registration, for the convenience of customers to use TD services.

The three new refer to new mechanism, new standard and new measurement, namely a set of fresh new mechanism, standard and measurement system would be adopted so as to advance the switching efficiency of 2G and 3G networks, for the convenience of users to switch to the 2G network when using TD services, and vice versa.

The three integrations refer to network integration, business integration and application integration. The so-called network integration is to connect the 2G and 3G networks into one, which share the same core network, business network and support network; in respect of business integration, China Mobile plans to insert 2G services into 3G network so as to advance users experiences with the help of 3G network's bandwidth, which not only saves investment in related service platform, but also secures the service quality; and application integration aims at meeting 2G and 3G customer-end's demand for software integration, and realize the smooth evolution of all applications from 2G to TD.

Statistics show that China's users of TD services have exceeded five million at present. China Mobile has realized the transfer of 2G services to the TD network, with the service contents exceeding 150 items, and developed video-phone, multimedia coloring ring back tone, mobile video and mobile reading services.
