China Unicom: google did't cancel cellphones cooperation

Updated:2010/1/20 15:19

Yesterday, a source said that Google has unilaterally canceled the cooperation with China Unicom. According to the cooperative agreements, Google and China Unicom and two mobile manufacturers will together develop Google phone.

The source said Google's mobile product development strategy in china has also made significant adjustments. But China Unicom said that this news is not true, the plan is still ongoing.

Google said Tuesday that it and a Chinese cellphone service company had postponed the release this week of two mobile phones that would use Google’s Android software.

Google did not give a reason for the delay, but a person briefed on the situation said the company did not feel that the phones should be released given the current uncertainty over its Chinese operations and its Chinese-language search engine.(By Rosa)
