China Mobile to launche fourth round TD-SCDMA bid

China Mobile plan to kick off the fourth round of bidding invitation for TD-SCDMA wireless network equipment in March. It is expected this bidding scale is the biggest.

According to China Mobile's plan, it will construct as many as 70 thousand wireless base stations to expand its network to 330 cities.

China Mobile will complete its TD-SCDMA network construction in 2010, to try hard to complete the TD-SCDMA development goals, chairman and chief executive Wang Jiangzhou said In China Mobile's 2010 congress.

After the issue of 3G licenses in early 2009, China Mobile started to launch a nationwide TD-SCDMA network construction. It has accumulatively poured about CNY 80 billion into the TD-SCDMA construction. By the end of 2009, its third-phase TD-SCDMA network had been finished, and its nationwide TD-SCDMA network had covered above 70% of the country's cities.

At the end of 2009, China Mobile has more than 5 million TD-SCDMA subscribers, and offers 266 models of TD-SCDMA-enabled terminals, including 80 models of mobile phone handsets.(By Rosa)
