On December 31, 2009, China Unicom announced that, after a series of network authentication and verification testing, WCDMA network construction of 50 cities in seven provinces already have the full commercial conditions, will be officially launched in 50 cities recently.

China Unicom's WCDMA network has covered 335 cities in China. Since January 7, 2009,  China Unicom got the 3G license, its WCDMA network construction speed and the scale had both hit the world record. (by Rosa)
