Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. has launched the first Indian WiMAX commercial network in Ajmer, Rajasthan in partnership with India Communications Corporation Limited (BSNL), announced the leading Chinese telecommunications solutions provider.
The network mainly provides high-speed data service for remote rural areas of the country, helping local residents to get the latest information relating to business, education, and medical treatment.
Huawei has provided BSNL with WiMAX 802.16e, the latest mobile broadband solution. It is a portable mobile access solution that is available for roaming and handover.
Besides deploying WiMAX networks, Huawei also participates in the their operation, and supports customers in their network commercialization. In the US, the company provides thousands of WiMAX 4T4R cell towers for Clearwire Corporation (Nasdaq: CLWR), a leading WiMAX network operator, improving network coverage and user experience.
In the Philippines, Huawei's team helps Globe lure more family and corporate customers. By November 2009, the company has gotten 60 commercial contracts worldwide.
