China's telecoms business volume is predicted to rise 14% year on year in the full year 2009, with a telecoms revenue growth of 5%, according to a latest data report released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China.
Moreover, the nation's total telephone user base is estimated to hit 1.06 billion in 2009. It is expected to finish 3G investments of CNY 143.5 billion, build 285,000 cell towers, and reach a 3G user base of more than 10 million, citing the report. Its non-voice business revenue will account for 37% of the total in the nation, and comprehensive telecoms service charges will reduce 9% from a year ago.
Remarkably, the nation's telecoms operator China Unicom (Hong Kong) Ltd. (NYSE: CHU, SEHK: 0762, SHSE: 600050), which kicked off 3G commercialization on October 1, 2009, saw its 3G user base add 801,000 in November 2009, compared with a 2G user base increase of 605,000. As of November 30, 2009, the company had had a total 3G user base of 1.822 million.
