Amidst an increasing stream of conventionally designed Android smartphones, the look of the Lenovo LePhone kind of reminds us of decade-old 3G concept designs. 3G connectivity is of course a given nowadays, and the LePhone's design also takes cues from more recent design trends. We're first and foremost talking about smartphones boasting large and bright touchscreens surrounded by ultra-slim and curved exteriors, but the LG Versa and its attachable keyboard also comes to mind.
The Lenovo Way
It's the total design package here that makes the LePhone stand out from the crowd though, and it looks like Chinese smartphone users will get a taste of the new Lenovo Way of making Android phones first. According to WSJ, introductions in other markets have luckily been promised to follow.
When Lenovo designed the LePhone, there's no doubt that the ability to offer a 3G communicator has been important. In addition to the attachable QWERTY keyboard, a front-faced VGA web camera enables video calls. If Fring starts offering Skype video calls for Android users down the road, the Lenovo Way of thinking would give the Android camp's multimedia cred a significant boost.
