LG launches Android-based handset in UK

LG Electronics has launched its first Android-based mobile handset named LG InTouch Max GW620 through T-Mobile UK and Virgin Media. With access to over 20,000 applications available on the Android Market, the LG InTouch Max GW620 offers free and payable apps to its users including weather, games, mapping, Facebook or Twitter applications, among others. The LG InTouch Max boasts a 5-line QWERTY and touchscreen keyboard, a 5-megapixel camera, a 3-inch touchscreen, and a 1500mAh battery. With a Social Networking Manager built-in application (Linkbook), phone users can access their friend's social networking profiles directly from their contacts lists. Other features include Auto Face-tagging, which automatically recognises a user's friends' faces on tagged photos. The Face-to-Action enables users to call, SMS, MMS or join their friends' social networking site by touching their faces in pictures. The LG InTouch Max GW620 is available from T-Mobile along with 24-month contracts with unlimited data for GBP 20 per month and from Virgin Media along with 18-month contracts with unlimited texts and data for GBP 22 per month.
