T-Mobile Begins Featuring Carrier Billing Option for Android Market Purchases

Updated:2009/12/11 10:26

Android users, rejoice! T-Mobile officially announced last night that they, in partnership with Google, have started rolling out an invisible update that will incorporate a new “Bill My T-Mobile Account” payment option to the Android Market. In other words, you will now be able to purchase paid apps and pay for them when you pay your cell phone’s bill. It’s like saying “put it on my tab.” This payment feature was announced by T-Mobile back in November.

According to T-Mobile, these are a few important details of the update to take into account:

The Market application update will be invisible to you.  No steps are necessary to receive the update!
To ensure that the update is received by all users T-Mobile and Google will stagger the update.  You should expect to have the Market update by 12/30/2009.
Once you receive the update you will be able to purchase paid applications using your credit card or your T-Mobile account.
Reminder: Any applications uninstalled within 24 hours will NOT be charged to your T-Mobile account or credit card.
There’s a little issue though, you can’t add applications that are not priced in US dollars. However, you can use a credit card to purchase them. Google and T-Mobile are already working “on a solution to properly convert these applications into US Dollars.”

For more information about the new payment option, visit the Official T-Mobile Forums.
