Telecom equipment vendor Nokia Siemens Networks said Monday it has received an order to extend and modernize Polish operator Polkomtel SA's networks.
Under the contract, Nokia Siemens will improve Polkomtel's third-generation, or 3G, network to make it more smartphone-friendly and prepare it for the next generation of mobile broadband, the company said.
Nokia Siemens will deploy its Flexi Multiradio base stations, which enables HSPA+ technology, and also provide its NetAct network management system, it added.
Nokia Siemens Networks is a joint venture between Finland's Nokia Corp. and Germany's Siemens AG.
