Motorola has announced that it will be powering the newly launched Far EasTone’s (News - Alert) WiMAX 4G service in Taichung city.
The new WiMAX network is designed to cover most of the Taichung city and the network coverage and capacity will be further be expanded as usage grows.
Taiwan-based FET (Far EasTone) under previous contracts has used Motorola’s (News - Alert) high-performance WAP 400 and WAP 450 base stations and Connectivity Service Network (CSN) Authentication, Authorization and Accounting (AAA)/Home Agent (HA) solutions.
Jan Nilsson, president and vice chairman of FET has stated that they are excited about the launch of the WiMAX (News - Alert) 4G service, which provides many possibilities to expand and tailor services for home and mobile users as well as business users and consumers. Motorola has designed, supplied and deployed a high-performance and reliable network for FET and Motorola’s end-to-end solution and quality services has helped them to create new revenue streams and attract new subscribers.
Mohammad Akhtar, vice president and general manager, Home and Networks Mobility, Motorola Asia Pacific, has said that FET is providing state-of-the-art telecom services in Taiwan. Its technologies can assist FET to attain the next level of mobile broadband service.
Motorola provides a full end-to-end WiMAX solution that extends beyond the infrastructure to integration of IP core products, outsourced managed services, and a broad range of customer premises equipment (CPE) and laptop modem products.
The new 4G WiMAX network they are powering will extend FET’ reach beyond the current 2G, 3G and 3.5G technologies.
Operators in the WiMAX network with customer premises equipment can offer their customers a low cost alternative to the home DSL service and draw new users who are looking for a high speed connection for downloading large files and enjoy movies, music or gaming on the go. 4G also is advantageous to business users and customers who are always on the move.
Recently Motorola unveiled MOTOROI and released its Wireless LAN cost calculation service.
WiMAX technology provides up to 10 Mbps broadband speed without the need for cables. A 4G wireless technology, WiMAX delivers low-cost open networks and is the first of all IP mobile Internet solution enabling efficient and scalable networks for data, video and voice.
