DT demonstrates HSPA+ at download speeds of up to 42Mbps

Updated:2010/3/4 14:34

German telecoms operator Deutsche Telekom (DT) has demonstrated HSPA+ technology with download speeds of up to 42Mbps at the CeBIT 2010 technology fair in Hannover. The data call was made using a Dual Cell HSPA+ platform based on Nokia Siemens Networks' (NSN’s) commercial Flexi Multiradio Base Station and USB modems using Qualcomm's MDM8220 chipset. DT plans to roll out HSPA+ with maximum bandwidths of 21Mbps across its T-Mobile Deutschland network, with marketing for a ‘Web’n’Walk’ surfstick modem to support HSPA+ at such speeds scheduled to commence in April. During 2010 transmission speeds of up to 42Mbps will also be launched over parts of the company’s domestic mobile network. ‘We are interested in providing a comprehensive and excellent technical platform for new and existing services,’ noted Bruno Jacobfeuerborn, MD of Technology at T-Mobile Deutschland, adding, ‘Whether you want to use your iPhone to surf the internet, access your company network from your laptop, or simply want to make a call with your cell phone – our network guarantees that our customers enjoy top speed and excellent quality both today and tomorrow.’
