Mobile operator Vodafone Turkey has agreed to acquire Turkish operator Borusan Telekom from the local conglomerate Borusan Holding, expanding into the fixed-line market. Borusan provides fixed voice and data services across Turkey, focusing on the corporate market and in recent years expanding into residential services. Borusan had gross assets of USD 18 million and net revenues of USD 70 million for 2008. No financial details on the transaction were revealed. In addition to local and international voice, internet and VPN services, Borusan Telekom supplies data centre services, security and tariff consluting and videoconferencing. The company uses VoIP technology with a redundant satellite backbone, operates a network of local and international POPs and has sales offices in major cities in Turkey.
